Dear Diary,
Yesterday began under a cloud...literally and figuratively.
Up early, as usual...
A bit of reading, a bit of praying, as usual...
But the usual joy and lightness were not there.
Sometimes there just seem to be clouds in the heart and mind...
and sleep in the eyes!
I looked around for something lovely...
...a simple carved wooden coaster...
...someone in India created this...
...a blessing upon his or her hands and life!
Crystal sparkling in lamplight...
...books to enjoy...
(the Elizabeth Goudge book is my long-awaited inter-library loan
and I'll tell you all about that later)
...and two packages of TJ's 85% cacao chocolate bars, so delicious...
Finally, Dear Diary, I gave up the fight,
nestled a cozy blanket around me,
and curled up on the sofa.
I took a nap...
...at 7:00 in the morning!
You'll be pleased to know that the day got brighter.
The Musician and I enjoyed our Friday lunch down by the water.
Then we went for a walk...the clouds had burned off...
...the sun was bright and warm...
...the shadows long.
Someone heading out into the bay...
...a beautiful day to be messing about in boats.
But we chose to go messing about in books...not boats...
We walked over to the big new One Dollar Bookstore.
No bookstore photos for you today, Dear Diary,
but here is something we saw on the way.
After a leisurely hour browsing among the bookshelves,
time to head home...
Perhaps one day next week I'll come back here
and walk across that bridge again.
Maybe a harbor cruise would be fun?
We shall see.
In the meantime, I leave you with this...
a glimpse of loveliness and light
and promise for tomorrow,
no matter how dark it may look today.
A true blessing: enjoying a nap, whatever hour it calls.
ReplyDeleteSounds like your nap hit the spot and glad that your second attempt at the day went better! Lovely photos too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a happy ending.
ReplyDeleteThat's just how it is some days and you have expressed it so well ... and love that last picture especially! It's like a picture of hope!
ReplyDeleteYour walks always cheer me up too. I hope the dark clouds have all gone now.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad things got brighter. I had another walk on Friday morning in San Diego with some lovely water views similar to yours!
ReplyDeleteNice post...great pictures,lovely thoughts!
ReplyDeleteGlad yesterday is over if it was one of the not so perfect days! Looks like it did brighten up later - and your pics were certainly no disappointment to me Sara.
ReplyDeleteHope the remainder of this weekend is delightful.

Lovely post Sara, xx
ReplyDeleteI'm glad your day became happy - I liked how you looked around for things to brighten it, but then later it became brighter by itself. That often happens, it's a matter of letting the darkness drift away.
ReplyDeleteLovely! The last photograh is great!
ReplyDeleteso you are taking a nap before I'm even thinking about getting up - well maybe thinking!!
