Dear Diary, how amazing that we have already finished the first week of 2012!
My day today began earlier than I had planned.
Another sleepless night...
...it's because I drifted off listening to my iPod...
Sometimes I just keep listening and don't fall asleep
and then I am wide awake in the wee hours of the morning!
Do you know what this gorgeous object is?
Here's a bigger hint!
All this glory from a toy for Miss Kitty...
...a long wand with a collection of bird feathers at one end.
Two of them were peacock feathers and those are the two that fell off first.
They are too beautiful to throw away
so I tucked them in among the books on the shelf,
where I can see them gleam in the lamplight.
Photographed about 4:30 this morning!
Here is another gleaming object...
...a friend surprised me with these pretty earrings.
Have you ever tried a macro shot of your own ear
by standing in front of the mirror and pointing the camera at your ear,
and watching the camera display reflected in the mirror
till it is framed just like you want it?
This was not photographed at 4:30 in the morning, I'm happy to say!
I did this while I was cooking dinner.
Lots of yummy ingredients cooking away...
potatoes, pimento olives, tomatoes, peppers,
onions, garlic, lemon zest, spices...
While these were simmering,
I took a moment to photograph my earrings.
...I also stepped outside to look at the moon.
Here it is rising above my neighbor's roof.
I tweaked the photo quite a bit;
it was much darker and obscure in its
straight-out-of-the-camera state.
The tweaking also gave the moon an interesting pink halo!
I didn't plan that; it just happened.
Back to dinner...the final result!
It's called "Fragrant Fish Tangine"
and I found the recipe over on Simple Life, Simple Pleasures.
It's really delicious. A brand new recipe for me...
...it's been a long time since I've tried something new.
The Musician and I were very happy with the results,
and there are left-overs for tomorrow.
In fact, I wouldn't mind another teensy little taste right now!
I'll see you tomorrow, Dear Diary.
Hopefully this night will not include restless early hours.
They rarely happen twice in a row.
Adieu!
Your earrings are beautiful, how clever to take a photo of your ear!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean when you mention the sleepless nights. Just when I think I won't have any more, I have one. Last night = GOOD sleep! Yes!
ReplyDeleteYour dinner looks fantastic! Well done!
I hope you have a peaceful and delightful Monday, Sara!
Just loving these posts you are doing. So much like a conversation. Dinner looks good and great earring shot! Is that Luci Shaw's new book you are going to read? I hear she has come out with or is coming out with a new one, per Bonnie.
ReplyDeleteSo your sleepless night has some rewards--
ReplyDeletein beautiful photos!
I'm feeling hungry already.
I did take a photo of my ear for a post a while back. Not easy :p. The Fish Tangine looks SO good, I'll have to give it a try. Everything about this post is delightful. Have a great week.

ReplyDeleteI know now how you get so many posts done now - up at 4.30 in the morning.
